Scrunchies Handmade With Love

The creator behind Kokom Scrunchies, Mya Beaudry, is a talented 11-year-old Algonquin from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation. Since starting Kokom Scrunchies in the fall of 2019, Mya has always ensured that all Kokom Scrunchies are handmade with love in Canada. Mya named each of the original Kokom Scrunchies after Indigenous role models in her life, and she hopes to also inspire others on her journey. What started off as an idea has taken Mya on a path to bring Kokom Scrunchies to everyone, young and old.

Venque was created in Toronto by brothers Viktor and Simon Cui with the purpose of crafting the perfect backpack for travellers. Venque's eco-friendly bags are crafted so you can make better choices for your adventures, without sacrificing design, price, or quality. Venque upcycled over 500K plastic water bottles to date, they have offset 2,247 tonnes of CO2 through their carbon-neutral shipping program, and have planted over 30,000 trees through Eden Reforestation Projects and Ecologi Partnership. Venque's mission is to find that blend of sustainability and quality that all of their customers love. Each of their products are handmade by Artisans who have spent their professional lives learning the art of making beautiful and functional products. Every product is made with the utmost attention to detail and respect with sustainability, modernism, minimalism, and function in mind, and today more than 300,000 users are carrying Venque products all over the world.

Tempo

Providing Students With High Quality Frames

Tempo Diploma frames are Canadian made using eco-friendly materials under fair labour conditions. Manufactured in Pickering, Ontario, all raw lumber used in the manufacturing of Tempo's molding is purchased from North American vendors who comply with all harvesting guidelines. The majority of Tempo's molding is made from Poplar, which is harvested in North America and is very sustainable. Stains and paints used on Tempo's moldings are water based and are heavy metal and lead free. Mats used in Tempo frames are made with recycled paper pulp, natural starch adhesives, and all pigments and dyes are EPA approved. Prairieknotco is a Saskatoon-based textile company founded by artist and maker, Jan Foth.  Jan is a retired nurse who enjoys dreaming up new creations on her sewing machine and spending time with her 10 grandchildren. Sewing is a skill that Jan began developing in her childhood and she continues to use these skills in creating and designing new and varied compositions.  Jan's daughters, Angela and Trisha, have recently joined the business using their skills in sewing, web design and bookkeeping. Prairieknotco's rope baskets are created from 100% cotton rope. This rope is hand-dyed with predominately natural, organic dyes, resulting in rope baskets that come in a variety of unique colours.

Fascinated by art as a child, Mandy, the founder of Soap Note Ink, always considered it a hobby and eventually made the decision to enter medical school. But after several years of study and early practice, she grew frustrated with the fact that she had no time to explore her creative side. Eventually she began pursuing various art hobbies, and after the birth of her second daughter at the start of a raging pandemic, she rediscovered her love of drawing. Every spare moment was spent hunched over her tablet as she drew and created, and she was able to find the joy to get through what was otherwise a very depressing and isolating time, and with the support of her husband she decided to share her art with the world.
